Jaisalmer was founded in 1156 AD, and the name of the city was retained after the founder, Maharaja Jaisal Singh. As yellow sandstone used throughout the city architecture, it is regarded as the Golden City of India. This World Heritage Site is located 575 kilometers west of the Rajasthan Capital in the heart of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is, however, known for its cultural heritage and tourism inclination.

The Golden City of Rajasthan is one of the smallest and cleanest cities in India.
